Andre's POV
The morning light spilled through the curtains like a gentle nudge, stirring me from sleep. Vanessa lay beside me, her breath soft, her skin warm against the sheets. There was something peaceful about watching her sleep. She stirred slightly, curling closer, and for a moment, I considered staying in bed and ignoring everything else.
But life never gives me that luxury.
I kissed her cheek gently, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'll be back soon," I whispered, barely disturbing the silence.
Her eyes fluttered open, drowsy and questioning. "Where are you going?"
"Stanley's downstairs. Needs to talk," I said, grabbing my robe. "Go back to sleep. I’ll join you before you miss me."
She nodded, snuggled in the blanket and drifted back to the edges of unconsciousness.
