Vanessa's POV

The TV flickered in front of me, but I wasn’t really watching it until I heard his voice.

Andre.

I sat straighter, clutching the throw pillow against my chest like it could somehow protect me. My heart, which had already been in a fragile state, thumped like a mad drum against my ribs.

The press conference was live. His face filled the screen—calm, composed, devastatingly handsome, and utterly unreadable. The kind of face I once fell asleep beside, tracing the lines of his jaw in the darkness with the tips of my fingers.

"Mr. Garcia, rumors have been swirling about your upcoming wedding. Could you confirm the date?"

My breath caught.

He didn’t hesitate.

"The wedding will be held in six months."

Six months.

Just six months from now, Andre Garcia would be married.

Then the camera shifted focus from him to the person beside him.

Alisha.

The smile on her face made my skin crawl.
