“Lizzieeee!!!” Gisele squealed through the phone.
“Yes, baby?” Lizzie answered. Gisele was sure she was puzzled.
“Come over,” Gisele said blandly, dropping the call.
About thirty minutes later, Lizzie came in. Gisele was lying on the couch, eating ice cream.
Lizzie rushed toward her, looking concerned.
“Are you okay? Ice cream is a code for deception, right?” she asked, touching her friend’s forehead.
“Lizzie-” Gisele started, but Lizzie interrupted her.
“Shush! I know you’re hurt, and I’m really sorry. I had no idea... I thought he was just gonna see you and offer to give you the job. Mon dieu, quel con! (My god, what a stupid man!)”
“Lizzie,” Gisele laughed. Lizzie was getting really worked up over nothing.
