Chapter 16
“What is the matter, Miss Ella?” Patty massaged her eyes immediately upon hearing Ella shout her name. When Patty noticed her caressing her back while she continued to grimace in agony, she decided Mugsy’s time had come to see the outside world. “Relax and take a deep breath,” Patty said. Daniella’s room had an intercom, and Patty promptly phoned Peter’s room and notified him to prepare for the hospital visit.
Patty aided Daniella in going down the stairs when everyone was up and waiting enthusiastically for them. Patty could tell by their expressions that they were also looking forward to seeing Mugsy.
Daniella desired to unwind, but the contractions persisted. It was too terrible to endure, but she reminded herself that other women had survived childbirth with no complications. Everything would be okay between her and Mugsy, she reasoned as she carefully approached the automobile.
