Nathan’s POV

I don’t want to let go of Amelie’s hand. I have a certain sense of calm when I can touch her. It feels like I have my missing piece. We’re getting close to the Historical site, and I know that I will have to stop holding her hand for even a few minutes as we get out of the helicopter. When you stand face-to-face with the possibility of losing the person who has your heart, it changes you. It makes everything so much clearer. I’m going to tell her that I love her tonight.

We reached the rescue base, and I relinquished Amelie’s hand. I quickly alighted from the helicopter and circled over to Amelie’s door as she was opening it. I helped her out, then intertwined our fingers again.
