Nathan’s POV

We landed at the airport, and I turned on my phone. Hopeful of a message from Amelie. There wasn’t one, but there were 15 other messages. What the fuck?

I punched in my code, and it felt like a punch in the stomach.

Lucas had left a frantic message. I couldn’t really understand him because he was babbling, although I did make out the words danger and Amelie. I called the building's concierge desk.

“Dr. Michaels, thank God you called,” Lucas declared. “There has been an incident.”
