Chapter 33. That’s Hebe’s Car
Lani no longer referred to Derek as her father, but Kane didn’t press further. Kane embraced Lani, sitting up and encircling her in his arms, gently massaging her shoulders to make her feel more at ease.
“Did he ask you to do something for Hebe?” Kane inquired.
Having experienced Hebe once calling Lani for questioning over the phone and requesting her to make a post explaining things, only to be rejected by Lani, Kane understood the personalities within her family. Selfish, cruel, and indifferent to Lani.
In their eyes, Lani seemed to be a tool to help them achieve what they wanted. And when there was no favor to ask, they had no interest in Lani. Lani nodded without saying more, and Kane’s gaze turned colder.
Recently, enjoying sweet moments with Lani had caused Kane to forget about dealing with the troubles of her family, allowing Hebe and Derek to bully her.
In the future, he would find a way to ensure they wouldn’t have the time to bother Lani anymo
