I woke up with a start and a choked gasp. Clasping my hand over my chest, I looked down and saw that my wrist was cannulated, with a bag of saline solution hooked up to the IV line. I fixated my gaze on the window for some minutes, trying to recall what must have happened for me to end up in a hospital. I squinted when the bright rays of sunlight seeped through the window blinds and hit my eyes.

“Thank goodness you are finally awake, Sofie. I was so worried.” I was startled when a familiar, feminine voice spoke from beside me.
