The days ran past and Friday soon came. Maya had recovered to some extent and she was to be discharged soon.

With her eye wide open and her lips moving, she sat up on her bed having a chat with Mel who was seated beside her bed. "I can't believe you're in the hospital because of some stupid guy who sp***d your drink," Mel said, shaking her head.

"I know, right?" Maya replied recalling what happened. "I should have been more careful. What are you doing here, anyway?"

"I'm here to keep you company, silly," Janet said with a smile. "And to make sure you don't get too bored."

Her friend chuckled weakly. "Aww, you're such a good friend. But seriously, did the CEO let you take time off?" she asked arching a brow.

"Well, technically I did take the day off. But I didn't ask for his permission. I just told him I wouldn't be in today."
