Zayn’s hands shook, his chest tightening as his eyes darted around the room.
“He… he went through all that?” His voice trembled, barely audible.
Dr. Daniel nodded, memories of four years ago flooding back like a torrent. He pressed a hand to his temple, trying to hold back the guilt, the sorrow, the helplessness.
“Though he isn’t my child,” Daniel said quietly, voice thick with emotion, “I… I feel for him. He doesn’t deserve any of this.”
Zayn’s eyes darkened with rage. “He is filthy.”
Daniel looked up sharply, confusion written all over his face. “What?”
“He… he is filthy. Who said that?” Zayn asked, gripping his pen so tightly that the ink smeared across the table.
Daniel’s heart sank. “Who else… but Gerard?”
A flash of fire ignited in Zayn’s chest. Anger, fury, and helplessness collided. He slammed his hand on the table, sending papers and pens flying.
“Fuck!!” he roared, unable to hold back the rage.
