As he walked in, she couldn’t help but notice how effortlessly charming he looked, even in something as simple as a lightweight sweater and linen pants. His hair was slightly tousled from the ocean breeze, and there was an easy smile on his lips—though it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
She gestured toward the small seating area by the window. “How have you been?”
She didn't have to say much for him to know that she was referring to the failed engagement. He'd been too busy to really talk about it since it happened, and it wasn't like he was heartbroken or anything like that, but honestly he wasn't sure he wanted to talk about it either.
