On the surface, it would appear that Adam is everybody's first choice for a Doctor. He is both a world-class heart surgeon and a charming gentleman. At the age of thirty-six, he is the proprietor of one of the most prosperous hospitals in Vermont, Virginia, and is regarded as one of the most influential individuals in that community. That's only t...

Chapter 1

Adam’s POV

I slid my fingers, ever-so-gently, down her smooth side, and she shivered.

This girl… this beautiful, robust, and wonderful lady who denied me the attention I deserved, was trembling as she anticipated more from my hands, my mouth, and... my body.

I placed my tongue against her ear and said, "For someone who has been quite stubborn in her attitude towards me, it puzzles me why there's a sudden shift."

She threw me a stern look... but that made her even more desirable than my heart could handle.

"How come I didn't see you sooner?" I added as I gently touched her cheek.

I'm not a conceited guy; it's simply that everybody was underneath me to begin with.

Man, woman, living and breathing. Most have fallen prey to my keen senses, deft hands, and sharp blade.

Still, as a surgeon, having other people's lives depend on me is something I can't control. The only thing I had to do was try to save as many people as I could.

A noble cause, huh?

This 'noble' cause of mine has catapulted me to the ranks of the city's most influential citizens in Virginia's capital, Richmond. At forty-six years old, I had created a hospital that cost one billion dollars. People of prominence, including celebrities and politicians, showed up here. Naturally, I took care of them myself. 'Save a man's life, and he'll owe you for the rest of his days,' as the saying goes.

Thanks to the many women in my life, I could also keep myself amused. As a strikingly good-looking, wealthy, and influential man, drawing women to me was like bees after honey. They swarm to me at the slightest breath of air.

But this isn't a tale about the ladies who were a breeze; instead, it's about the one who completely ignored my existence. Even thinking about it makes my veins explode.

"You look handsome when you're deep in thought," a seductive voice said.

I looked up and saw Amanda had just let herself into my office and was closing the door.

I smiled and said, "Amanda, my dear, to what do I owe this pleasure?"

"Dr. Hunt, do you not allow friends to come for private consultations?"

As she sauntered over to my desk, her hips swaying seductively, she bit her bottom lip, and I couldn't help but return the gesture with a sly grin.

"As far as I can recall, I'm not a gynecologist. May I suggest that you see Dr. Maria Jones?" A question mark appeared on my face.

"I'd rather have you inspect me, doctor." She climbed onto my lap. "An oral investigation, perhaps?"

"Fine then," I said, firmly supporting her head and kissing her. While I stroked her hair, she moaned softly in my mouth.

This was the good life: the freedom to play around without worrying about committing to anyone.

What I should have realized was that things were going to get a lot tougher.

She pulled away from the kiss and put out her tongue, saying, "God, you taste so good, it's almost unbelievable."

"Why thank you," I murmured, licking her tongue, "It's coffee and chocolate. Remind me to get you some after work."

"I don't mind," she responded cheerfully.

I took her tongue in my mouth, and she leaned back. I held her in my arms to keep her in place while I devoured her. She didn't have an awful taste, but I needed to taste a particular area of her body immediately, not with my mouth, but with my member.

I enjoyed hearing her moan.

"Baby, I want more," she cried, panting for air.

"It doesn't look like I have any other things to do," I mumbled and began assisting her with her zipper.

Just then, my office phone started beeping.

"I thought I made it clear that I didn't want any interruptions," I said, although I wasn't furious.

"I'm sorry, sir, but there's an emergency on its way to the ER," Catherine, my secretary, said.

Amanda and I looked at each other, nodded, and she climbed down.

As I leaped into action, I asked, "What's the emergency?"

She went into detail about the event: "Car accident, punctured heart. Emergency Response says he's still stable."

There's no hope for him.

"Get the best doctors, and we'll do our best. Tell Harold to assist me," I said as I left the office.

"Sir, wait!" Catherine chased after me, her breasts bouncing rhythmically to the movement of her legs.

"You said it's an emergency, right?" I asked as I kept on walking.

"Harold isn't yet back," she said in response.

"What?! So, who do we have then?" I asked as I walked inside the emergency room.

"The independent doctor," she said.

"The one who was meant to aid us?" I arched an eyebrow. "Tell him to join me then."

"It's not a he," she replied as she entered the room to dress up with me.

We donned our surgical masks, gloves, and gowns.

I mentioned that it had been a while since I collaborated with a female surgeon.

"Sir?" she questioned.

"Yes?"

"While I assist you as a secretary, I'm still a practicing surgeon," she reminded me.

I mentally responded, "Yeah, but you're a lesbian," but I shrugged in response. "Let's hope she can stomach this and not cause me any problems."

Walking into the operating room, I saw a surgeon pacing up and down, clearly anxious about what would happen.

I looked at Catherine, and she nodded in agreement.

"You have to be kidding," I said quietly.

The surgeon finally looked up from her pacing to greet us.

One thing really stuck out. The blueness of her eyes.

She looked at me in such a way that her gaze seemed to pierce me. I fought off the impulse to pace along with her.

What the heck is this?

Me? Adam Hunt, feeling uneasy around a lady I just met?

Something didn't seem quite right; who did she think she was, anyway?

"Is there a problem?" Catherine asked.

"What…" The emergency room staff interrupts me as they bring in the body.

"Patient's status?" I asked while steeling myself for the worst.

I caught a glimpse of the other doctor, who appeared to be concentrating on her breathing, her eyes closed.
