The room sank into silence after the man left and Clara wiped her tears and slowly looked up at the girl who was still sitting on the floor with a tear-streaked face and a blank expression.

She sniffed softly with a hand splayed on her chest while her thoughts wandered to what the dangerous man had said earlier. She had never imagined that her life would take a huge turn like this.
