Chapter 27. Sunshine

The voice sounded hoarse, most probably due to lying in bed for months. Zora was excited, knowing that Mr. Newman would be very happy with the news.

“You are awake!”

The sleep cleared from her eyes, and she immediately went to get the water but realized he couldn’t move. Even with that, his tongue was sharp.

“Who are you? What are you doing here? Why am I here? And why can’t I move?” He was throwing the questions continuously like a tennis ball.

Zora was overwhelmed, not knowing which to answer first. The contract had been going smoothly, and though she didn’t want Sebastian to wake up in the beginning, her worry for his father made her want him to get better.

The fact that they didn’t even know each other ruled out the possibility of them being a real couple. All she felt for him was sympathy. “Drink the water first.”

Zora gently fed him the water, and as soon as he had enough, she dialed Mr. Newman’s number.

“Dad, Sebastian is awake.”
