Juliet is so hurt. She had woken up an hour earlier than the doctor said she would and none of the nurses on duty were there to make the announcements as none of them expected her to wake up at the time she did.
She didn’t care about that though. She cared about something else; about Lucien.
Before she stabbed herself, she had read the letter Mr. Corbin wrote and in her last breath kept thinking of the possibility that Lucien was the one that sent those gifts because the wordings of the letter were something she knew Lucien could write and also the ending stated that all the gifts belong to her just as Lucien stated that day in the sitting room—that day the gifts were given to them.
The dots were too open for her not to notice that Lucien must have really done all that just to beg her one more time to forgive him. She has always been smart so it wasn’t that hard for her to figure out. But what she didn’t understand was how it was possible.
