Chapter 32
Diana looked across the ravine to the open field where they had nearly perished from exposure to the elements the day before. There was no sign of a single human being anywhere in sight. And she was curious as to what had happened to the people who lived in this area.
However, Ryan was awake and sitting at the edge of the living room with sleeping bags and blankets wrapped around her when she got back inside. "Is there any news about the weather outside?" he inquired as Diana jerked her head in response. "....Is there any way for us to get started on our journey?" Ryan added.
"No, not at this time. I believe the trail has been buried beneath the sleet." She sighed as she took up a position beside him.
"Fuck it. I'm done with it. Does that mean we're stuck here? D? I'm not sure whether I should be angry with you or grateful," he said as he turned away from her and back into the chimney fire.
