"Really? Trying to cheer me up with the same spiel I gave you last week, when you couldn't even understand me?" Phillip smiled, his brow furrowed.

"I got the essence of it," Lucinda responded with a retort. Her pupils constricted as she read the words. "Phill, it isn't amusing."

"The fact that you have to pretend it isn't proves it is." He stood up from the ground. "So, what's the game plan here? How will we be able to withstand their strange spell?"

"Here, you're the boss. Your role is to guide me," she responded.
