Chapter 42. Caught Her Securely
Iris cooked the dinner in the evening while the old lady was outside. She didn’t want to live like a free-loader person in that house. She tasted the soup and put the bowl aside.
“Why are you cooking? I could have done this work,” Dorothy said as she entered the kitchen with a basket in her hand. She put the basket on the counter.
“I thought to cook for us, Grandma. You gave me a place to live and I appreciate you for that,” Iris asserted with a smile. “I will set the table for us,” she affirmed.
“That will be great. I’ll wait for you outside in the yard,” Dorothy said and walked out of the kitchen.
Iris always wanted to live a life like this. She got a grandmother figure, who was quite sweet in her nature. Iris emptied the soup made of potatoes and other vegetables into a bigger copper bowl and took it out.
