Chapter 31
I didn’t need an expert to tell me that kissing David back had been a stupid mistake. It was one of those things you knew you’d regret even before they happened but carried on with anyway, and now, left to my own devices for the first time in what felt like years, I could only let my mind wander to the events that’d transpired yesterday night.
Over a month had passed since my ex breezed back into my life and even though Paula remained reasonably cautious even she found it hard to deny that in our time apart he’d become changed, losing some of that brashness, the one quality I’d at first loved but eventually come to dislike, replaced with a kind of mature dignity.
The fact that he wanted to get back together was not one he tried to be subtle about, what with the pointed remarks he kept making about our good old days and how good we used to be together.
