Chapter 80
After what felt like hours, Carmela finally stood up and started to walk away from the grave. The rain had slowed to a light drizzle, and the world felt strangely still.
As she turned to leave, she heard a voice call to her name.
“Carmela,” the voice called out and she turned back, and her heart leapt into her throat. There, standing at the edge of the graveyard, was Max.
For a moment, Carmela thought she was imagining things, that she was seeing things that weren't real. But then she remembered that Max was gone, that he was never coming back.
This could only be one person. Her breath caught in her throat as she watched the figure emerge from the mist, moving closer to her.
