Chapter 93

"What are you going to do with this? You know, with this information?"

Carmela's expression turned steely, a hint of determination surging into her voice. "Don't worry about me, Pedro. I know exactly what I'm going to do. I can take care of myself." She patted his hand reassuringly. "You've done enough. Just keep this between us, a favor I would return."

With a nod, Pedro released his grip, and Carmela swiftly exited, leaving him looking worried and unsure, but also trusting her to handle the situation.

At the evening gala Max had invited her to. Carmela's eyes gleamed with a mix of sadness and curiosity as she walked alongside Max, her husband whom she had put her whole trust in. 

He held her hand, seemingly oblivious to the turmoil brewing inside her, as they entered the event. 

One of Max's colleagues, a middle-aged man with a boisterous grin, waved his hands at Max to come over to where they sat, and Max smiled and pulled Carmela along.
