I glare across the desk at Blake. What is he even thinking? Why wouldn’t we go and get Bry back right away? Delaying only means those jerks may hurt her more or something worse. The guy’s comment swirls around in my head and pushes my anger even higher. I ignore Bry’s pleas to wait.

Later, she finally connected with me, but she didn’t say what I thought she would. A part of me is still a little hurt by her command to wait a few days.
