Chapter 13
Mia stumbled back at Alex’s sudden change in demeanor. Then, she noticed the arrow pierced deeply in a tree, and she gasped. Alex looked around the woods but could no longer sense the strange presence, nor could he see who had shot the arrow. He walked away in annoyance, blaming her in his head for being too loquacious to allow him to concentrate.
“Where are you going?” She asked him, watching him walk away. He ignored her completely as he got on his horse and rode away, much to the shock of Mia.
“How can he just leave me here? The audacity,” she raved as she marched over to her horse. Does he know if there will be another attack? We came here together, and he left me all alone—who in the bloody hell does that? Such impertinence!” she kept ranting as she mounted her horse and galloped in the direction of the pack house.
At this moment, she was not too worried about the poisonous arrow, which was something every normal girl would have been afraid of, but she was not
