With Dad, it was easy; I deliberately picked his call instead of Mum's because I knew that I can convince him but then Mummy collected it and she didn't buy my story."
"What story?" Marissa asked her
"That Bernard boarded another plane," Tomiwa said with a grimace.
"I should have known that mummy wouldn't just let it go like that. I should have known that she would ask for specific details; by the time she got to ask me why his number was not going through, I already knew that I fucked up with my inconsistent answers," she berated herself.
"No, you need not blame yourself. None of us were thinking straight. I should have known that they would hear about the news anyway," Marissa said.
"It's fine. They are on their way now, you say?"
