Chapter 99. Outside Wedlock

Then he saw the resemblance of the woman to Emma. The cheekbones, the mouth, and especially the eyes The woman in the portrait had a huge smile on and even a stranger could easily detect that she and Emma are related as the boy also depicted the same infectious smile. 

"Wow, what an uncanny resemblance!" he thought as he spotted another image of the woman on the wall. This one was smaller, and the woman was lying on her stomach, gazing lovingly at the person behind the camera. Then he saw another of the woman and Marissa, and his gaze automatically fixed on Marissa; she looked so much younger there with her head thrown back in laughter as the woman appeared to be tickling her mercilessly. "Would you ever be this free with me?" He sighed. 

"What I would give to be the one who makes you laugh like this. Who is this woman, though, Could this be?"

"So much for 'I wouldn't touch anything" he heard Marissa's voice behind him.
