Chapter 56

“Jaxsen…” I bit my finger, trying to find a reason so that I could stay longer with Steven. I have to take care of him.

Steven sleeps peacefully on his bed as if he didn’t do anything scary earlier.

I heard in Jaxsen’s line that he is starting his car’s engine. “Stop lying to me, Kameron.” He spoke strongly and firmly.

Even though I didn’t answer, he hung up. I sat down at the end of Steven’s bed. I can’t leave Steven in his situation; he needs me more than Jaxsen.

I stood up to fix his blanket. Honestly, I hate Steven mixed with a sulk. He needs my accompaniment but chooses to stay silent and never opens up to me. Does he not trust me anymore?

Like my usual routine when he gets drunk, I always cook an abalone soup for him. Fortunately, he has the ingredients I will need in his pantry. I let go of Steven’s secretary because she was shaking with fear and nervousness. That’s why only me and Steven are here in his condo.
