Chapter 29
The door closed with a loud bang. I understood that she was angry. I went to the counter to look for the bottle that I had left drying the night before, and then I went to the refrigerator to get the milk. My arm hurt a lot less now, and moving didn’t hurt as much as it did the day before.
He simply stayed in his place, patient, next to the table:
“I’m sorry. For all this,” Ivan apologized, when I was standing there with the milk and the bottle.
Sasha had been excited by the smell of the food again, I imagine, and abandoned my shirt to turn to what I was preparing for her. She started making adorable little noises, like chirping or little moans, and stretched out a little hand toward what she wanted.
“It doesn’t matter, I didn’t hear much anyway, I’m still a little asleep,” I replied.
“You do realize that I can smell the lie, right?”
I turned to look at him, sensing the irony in his words and expression:
