Chapter 38. Truth Unfolding

I followed with all my strength, my brain fighting to keep me going despite losing everything. I didn’t know for how long we had run for or where we were even going but I kept moving with all my might.

I was awakened from my reverie when I heard a loud sound behind us. Ramsey cursed and increased his pace, yelling for me to run faster. I understood that the king had probably found out that I was missing and his men were closing in.

Or he was closing in.

I couldn’t mistake his scent. It was him. He was right behind us. There was a small stream right in front of us and when we got to the stream, Ramsey seemed to be at a loss, he didn’t seem to know where we were to go next.

“Ramsey, Ramsey hide. I’ll go back with the king and face whatever will happen to me. I’ll say I wanted to escape and make it look like I was running away alone.
