When I hunted Brenda down for kicking (and fatally bruising) an alley cat, I didn't feel guilty about what I was going to do. If you asked me, anyone hurting animals deserved a little...discipline.
In my case, I went overboard. I drained Brenda, my lunatic student, of blood an hour after she called her mother a bitch. In front of her screaming parent, I ripped Brenda's heart out because she kicked a cat in the stomach on her way to school.
I happen to love cats! I gasped with fear and wanted to take away the cat's pain. It wasn't the cat's fault she was in remedial classes. I could care less about her calling her mother a bitch.
