As suddenly as her screams started, they subsided. Blue and I exchanged looks, puzzled, scared, and alarmed. Hearing her scream like someone in agony wasn't something we would ever wish to experience again. Her sudden silence panicked us as well. It took a few seconds for us to spring into action. I carried her up from the couch, while Blue raced towards the connecting door.
