BELLA

The attack came when we least expected it. After our mating ceremony, we returned to the kingdom, to the affairs of the people. Devon and Josh had been recruiting people who would fight while sending the rest who were either too old or too young into the magical realm Devon made. It wasn't easy, but the two of them pulled it off while Chris took care of the children. They made me realize what it meant to have people who cared so much about you, with you. 

When we returned to the palace, it didn't seem like we had left it for a month. The entire place was just as it was when we left for the trip to Earth. 

It was on the third day after our mating ceremony that we got the first attack. I was in the throne room, discussing war strategies with the heads of the guards Josh recruited when we heard a bang followed by the sound of shattering glass and screams from outside the throne room. I immediately jumped up from my seat, my heart racing with concern.
