“No one would dare to bring the wrath of the lycan King and his Queen on themselves.” Emmeline snapped at Rome.

Her voice sliced through the air like a blade, sharp and vibrating with quiet authority. Even the crackling fire in the hearth seemed to hesitate for a moment, its light flickering over her fierce expression.

At some point Rome was right. When Amber had announced that she was going to break the unwanted mate bonds, she had been surprised along with everyone else to see that a large number of lycan couples had agreed to break their bonds.

The memory of that day shimmered vividly in Amber’s mind—the sound of gasps rippling through the great hall, the scent of damp earth and burning torches, and the mix of fear and relief that hung heavy in the air.

They had been in debt of Amber for releasing them from the chins of the unwanted mate bonds while there had been others who had turned into her enemies for releasing their mates from the sacred mate bond.
