“I hope I’m not very late for dinner.” Victor’s voice bought Amber out of her thoughts. The heavy scent of roasted meat and burnt charcoal hung thick in the air, curling like black smoke toward the crystal chandeliers. The fire crackled in the hearth, spitting embers that cast a warm glow over the tense table.
The moment Victor’s gaze flickered at the burnt steaks he knew that Darach had cooked today. And the fact about his cooking was that only Queen Amber could endure eating those uneatable pieces of coal. “Oh I forgot that I already ate. I’ll leave you two to enjoy.” He mumbled while scratching the back of his head nervously trying to keep his opinions to himself.
