“Do you have any idea where can I find Esmeray?” Amber inquired.
“No, I sent someone to the Vampire Castle to dig information but she’s gone. No one knows where she is. Even as a client it’s hard to hire her. She takes jobs via some shady wizards. The girl is almost impossible to---” Victor trailed off when Isak’s roar echoed in the house.
The sound tore through the air like thunder cracking open the night—raw, furious, and laced with magic that made the very walls quiver. The chandelier above trembled, scattering shards of light across the darkened hall.
In a blink, Amber and Darach were gone. When Amber opened Isak’s house’s front door with a bang she gazed at her son whose eyes were shining in a mesmerising violet shade as he gazed at the broken mirror in the hall.
Shattered glass littered the marble floor like frozen stars, and the scent of iron—blood—hung faintly in the air. The atmosphere pulsed with invisible energy, thick enough to taste.
