The betrayal cut twice—once from Darach, and once from the Goddess she had trusted to guide her fate. Amber’s faith, once a burning torch, sputtered and dimmed into ash.

She had told Amber to be the one who takes the first step, look where did it get her. She had accepted Darach with all his flaws.

She had ignored the fact that he was a lycan, she had ignored Rebecca’s warnings. She had taken down all her walls, she had given her heart to the beast. Only for the beast to break her fragile heart.

Another scream tore from Amber’s wailing heart. She had collected thrones while thinking that she was collecting roses. And now those thrones have left her hands and heart blooded.

She had suffered from pain before but this time it was different not because she fell for the wrong person because she was exhausted. She was tired of being the one who always suffered from expecting the same kind of love from people that she gave them.

The exhaustion sat heavy in her
