Alexa got home, still dazed by what had taken place at Hector’s. I might be mated to the three species in me but why do I have to be attracted to all three as well? Wouldn’t it have been much easier bring attracted to just one? That would have helped with the problem of choice.

‘This marriage I have consented to is just a contract. Not a real one!’ she told herself. ‘As soon as the children get the feel of their father, I shall end it and they shall have no choice but to follow me wherever I decide to go.’

She was amazed to hear a knock on the door just as soon as she entered her house. ‘Who could never to be?’ she thought as she walked back towards the door and threw it open.

Dr. Arnold was standing there, smiling sheepishly. “Good evening, Miss Alexa Palmer!” he greeted.

“Dr. Arnold,” she said surprised. “It is you! When did you get back?”
