Ellis was standing against the large glass wall, looking at the vast forest, but I saw how his back stiffened when he sensed me. He turned around and gave me a tiny smile that warmed my heart.

“You’re early,” I said.

“I couldn’t wait,” he walked closer to me, and I turned around with a cuss. I was drenched in sweat. He let out a small chuckle that made my heart leap.

“Excuse me,” I said quickly and went upstairs to take a cold shower. I wore slacks and a tank top, tied my hair in a messy bun, and went downstairs.
