Chapter 426. Big Night

Nicholas POV

“I’m nervous,” she confesses. It is the night of Apphia’s shift. The moon is not complete, but it will be soon. We are heading to the royal lake near the mountains. I squeeze her hand and smile to reassure her. The truth is that I’m nervous, too, but I can’t let her know it. The whole day, she has been fussing and having sharp body pains.

“It will be fine, and I’ll guide you through the shift. Do you want me to carry you?” I ask. She shakes her head no and picks up her steps to tell me she can walk alone.

Reaching the lake, my family is already there to witness my mate’s shift. The elders should have been here, too, but we didn’t tell them about it. They won’t be too pleased about that, especially since she’s not only the Luna Queen but a marked wolf- a divine wolf.

My family, including Drake and Blade, emerge smiling at Apphia.

“How do you feel about getting your wolf tonight?” Knox asks, patting her head. I frown, and so does she.<
