Chapter 506. Warmth and Safety

Jamila POV

The truth is shocking to me, and I’m numb. I can’t believe my family... well, I am unsure if they are mine anymore because I don’t know if I’m truly Jamila or the intruder who entered. How could they not have told me? I’m angry, but I feel sorry for them. They’ve just been waiting for me to regain my memories to see if their daughter will come back or a stranger in their daughter’s body.

Finally, sleep envelopes me. However, I wake up suddenly to the mewling of a cat- Shai. She’s pacing on the edge of the bed.

“Shai, what is it?” I ask. She seems agitated. She jumps off the bed and into the closet. I follow her. She’s now standing atop Nicholas’ drawer.

“Shai,” she starts scratching the drawer top with her sharp claws. “Do you want something in the drawer?”

Meow. I open the drawer, and suddenly, a purple light blasts the room from the cameo necklace. I cover my face at the impact of the light, and darkness overcomes me briefly before m
