"Hi, Miss Nielsen. Doctor Carlson wants to see you. Fifth floor."
I looked up and smiled at the nursing assistant on shift. "'Kay. Thanks, Jane." My grip on the medical journal loosened. "I'll be there in a sec."
"Need anything, Miss Kel?" she asked with another pleasant smile. "We got doughnuts in the pantry, and raspberry, chamomile, and ginger tea."
"Oh. No. Thanks." Sugar would not help at the moment. Not with my already hyperactive brain keeping me from completing the task at hand. Mostly due to nervousness and weeks-old anxiety. I'd just applied for placement in a residency program yesterday. My inner critic wasn't too pleased, to say the least. "Not hungry right now."
"Just give us a buzz if you need anything."
