The next day, Camila awoke in the early dawn light filtering through the living room curtains. She stretched, feeling the stiffness in her muscles from sleeping on the couch. As she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, she realized that Martina was not in the living room with her.
Camila frowned, glancing around the living room. It was empty and eerily quiet. She and Martina had fallen asleep on the couch last night, Martina wouldn't stop crying but eventually fell asleep.
Camila got up and spotted one of the maids dusting a nearby bookshelf.
"Where's Martina?" Camila asked her voice husky with sleep.
The maid looked up, a hint of concern in her eyes. "Morning Ma'am. She's in her room, Miss. She went up there early this morning."
