KIERA STEVENS’S POV

“Is he okay now?” I asked as soon as his man named David strode outside with a nurse aside. He smiled at me little then notified calmly, keeping his voice noticeably low,

“He is… but he doesn’t want to take any doctor’s help. As you know, he is one kind of stubborn man. I was wondering if you can convince him?”

“I will!” I replied immediately, knowing that it was only a favor that I owed him. Still it felt like a nightmare, thinking about the moment when he threw himself in front of us. He didn’t care about himself anymore. That guy with a gun aimed at Ryan. Then he came over to cover us even before the bullet could pass through us. He was injured and hurt.

“Mom, is uncle hurt for me?” Ryan asked, jerking my hands worryingly. Ever since he saw him hurt, Ryan remained quiet but the worry in his eyes didn’t disappear. He cared for a complete stranger who just met him.

Before I could give him my answer, David crunched down in front of h
