I looked over at Eduardo, he was not holding his emotions in check. He looked to her, linking her, and she shifted into her silver and black wolf. She moved forward, in front of her mate and growling, as the two vampires moved apart from each other.

The guards would have experience fighting werewolves, who normally fought in pairs or groups. Alone, they were vulnerable to vampire speed and venom, and that was how they attacked.
