Chapter 11. Her First Time
Daniel POV
I had to stay away from her. I repeated this command to myself a hundred times each day, like a desperate mantra. And with each repetition, the agony of resisting the urge to seek her out remained just as intense, just as unbearable. My muscles existed in a perpetual state of tension, every fiber of my body feeling as though it had been electrified by this relentless longing for her presence.
I cracked open a beer and let the cold, bitter liquid slide down my throat. It didn’t quench the thirst I felt—the craving for the one thing I could not have: Elizabeth.
Outside, daylight was fading. The sky was a tapestry of fiery reds, oranges, and yellows, the colors trailing behind the sun as it slipped below the horizon and surrendered to the gathering shadows of night. Another day had passed without her by my side, and the ache inside me only deepened.
