Chapter 115. Will You Bathe Me?
Hermes POV
The water muffles everything—the sound of the world, the noise in my head, even the ache sitting in my chest. Down here, beneath the surface, it’s quiet, and peaceful. For a moment, I let it hold me.
Then my lungs start to burn, and I push upward, breaking through with a sharp inhale. The air feels heavy, humid, pressing against my skin as I blink the water out of my eyes.
I rest my arms on the pool’s edge, staring out at the lounge side of the house. The Grande estate—his family’s house—looms behind him, dark and still. I haven’t stepped foot here since I came back from Australia. Even when I tried a few weeks ago, I didn’t make it past the entrance. That damn mail ruined everything that day.
But now she’s here. June.
I drag a hand over my face, slicking my wet hair back. I still can’t believe I brought her here. Of all places—this house, this memory-soaked place I’ve been avoiding for years.
