“Tell me the truth, Alex,” Ryan asked.
I exhaled deeply.
“Is she the one?” he stared at me expectantly. “Come on, man.”
I stared at the kitchen floor. Her hair left a trail of droplets of water leading out to the living room.
“No, she’s not,” I confessed.
“Damn it, Alex! You’re shitting me, right? She has to be your mate.”
I shrugged. “She’s not. Why would you even think that?”
“You put a mutt in your elite team? Doesn’t that say you’re crazy about her?”
I chuckled and shook my head. Ryan was an idiot. “She also ripped a man to shreds. She has potential.”
“She doesn’t even address you like an Alpha? I’ve known you since your wolf life. That’s your girl.”
“I told you. I don’t have a mate,” I snapped.
“Then leave her alone, Alex. You’ve decided you want to die, or are you going to let her choose?” He crossed his arms and stared me down.
