Returning to Silas' family gathering, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease lurking in the air. His mother, her eyes alight with curiosity, seemed genuinely interested in my presence, but Silas' father and brother, on the other hand, maintained an air of indifference that left me pondering whether they truly cared about their son's choice in company. As I settled into a chair, I felt like a deer caught in the headlights, surrounded by inquisitive gazes.
"You know one of the coordinators of this wedding, sweetheart?" Silas' mother inquired, her tone laden with intrigue. I furrowed my brow, unable to discern the direction her question was heading.
I nodded with a polite smile, attempting to mask the unease that had settled upon my features. "Yes, auntie," I replied, my voice trembling slightly. "I met her at one of my events."
