I decided that Morgan should be the first person to know about my upcoming business trip. Sharing the news with my father was tempting, yet daunting, as it would inevitably lead to questions about Silas. While I could craft a plausible tale about his hectic schedule and aviation pursuits, the thought of layering more lies atop an already precarious foundation made me hesitate.

Morgan, with her pragmatic nature, seemed the more suitable confidante for this particular disclosure. After all, I had revealed the intricate web of deceit that enshrouded my life to her, and she had chosen to stand by me. I owed her this insight into my plans.
