Mary woke up when she felt Bella's hand being pulled from hers. She looked around frightened for a moment, forgetting where she was. When she was able to remember, she looked at Bella, who was being placed on the bed by some mechanism and the nurse was handing her what Mary identified as soup. Having lived there before, she remembered the soups well. But in her father's kingdom, it wasn't their custom.

The nurse handed her a plate too and as soon as she tried it, she discovered that it was much tastier than the soups that were served in the home where she lived.
