Chapter 24

About twenty minutes into the different speeches, Maya was pretty much convinced this event was tiresome as she predicted. After about three more speeches, each one taking about ten minutes of horrible joke-making and five of the actual oration, Maya was beat.

Although, she wasn't going to admit that it was because she had scanned the hall more times than she could count, searching for him.

He didn't show up and deep down, she was disappointed.

"Ooooh, it's the dance."

A slow tune began to play over the speakers and she watched as couples began to stroll casually to the dance floor. 

"Come on! I've always wanted to dance the waltz!" Kirsty bounced on her feet, tugging at Derek's arm as he chuckled.

"It's not a waltz, Kirsty," Jason informed with a roll of his eyes but whether she heard or not, the bubbly girl was already pulling her date away.

Jason turned to them, scratching at his chin, "She doesn't really think it's a waltz, does she
